Welcome to Silvertreks.
We are a couple from British Columbia, Canada, passionate about travel, discovering new places, and learning from every journey we take.
While we were still working full time, we loved to travel, but our trips were limited by vacation days. We tried to fit as many trips as possible into each year, often traveling on fixed dates. This usually meant higher costs, as flights and accommodation were not always at their cheapest.
Because of this, we started planning for early retirement so we could travel more often and more affordably.
After retiring early, our travel style changed. Instead of choosing a destination first, we now plan our trips around good flight and accommodation deals. This allows us to maximize the value of our budget and travel more with limited resources.
We consider ourselves budget travelers. We look for affordable flights and good-value accommodation, but we don’t hesitate to spend money on attractions and experiences that create lasting memories.
Our travels include exploring cities, hiking in national parks and mountain areas, and relaxing on beach destinations, especially in the Caribbean.
Through this blog, we document and share our journeys, along with practical tips, lessons learned, and things we wish we had known before traveling. We hope our experiences show that travel is possible for everyone, regardless of destination or budget.
P.S. The name Silvertreks started with our initials — A and G — which form Ag, the symbol for silver.
